Chery officially launches brand in Indonesia

Chery officially launched its brand in Indonesia yesterday at the on-going 2022 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in Kemayoran, Jakarta. With the theme ‘Feel The Difference’, the carmaker kicks off its renewed, stronger commitment to Indonesia and ASEAN.

President of Chery International Mr Zhang Guibing said that Indonesia is one of the world’s most promising auto markets and an important strategic market for Chery in Southeast Asia. He added that Chery will take the Indonesian market as the bridgehead, venture into a new investment and business model, rely on its technical strength, and strive to bring advanced technology and intelligent products to Indonesia.

In addition to meeting Indonesian users’ needs, Chery will also take Indonesia as a base for export to other ASEAN countries and regions. The carmaker hopes to bring high-technology vehicles, including electric vehicles, to Indonesia, provide technical support for partners and actively participate in the transformation of the Indonesian automotive industry.

Chery aims to achieve a network of over 100 outlets throughout Indonesia within the next two years, covering major cities and regions such as Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Bali. It also plans to establish parts hubs in the four core islands (Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi) to provide fast parts supply and after-sales service.

The vehicles on display at the Chery stand include the Tiggo 8 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, OMODA 5 and the fully-electric EQ1. In particular, the OMODA 5 started production in China only in February, and this is its first appearance in ASEAN.

The Tiggo Pro family of SUVs incorporate Chery’s latest R&D concepts and technologies, while offering fashionable design inside and out to elevate the driving experience. The flagship Tiggo 8 Pro is powered by Chery’s cutting-edge 2.0 TGDI engine, which produces 254 PS and 400 Nm of torque, and delivers a thermal efficiency of 41%. Also featured are remote start, a 360-degree camera and Chery’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) incorporating many functions including Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Collision Warning.

The OMODA 5 is the first member of the new OMODA global product series, targeting future technology trends and an exclusive, interactive and shared ecosystem for its users around the world. OMODA 5 aims to create a new lifestyle trend centring on fashion and technology, and is set to launch in Asia, South America, Australia, Africa and Europe over the next five years.

IIMS 2022 runs from 31 March to 10 April at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
