New Ghibli Hybrid Now in Malaysia - The first electrified vehicle in Maseratiís history

Naza Italia-Maserati announced the first electrified vehicle in Maserati’s history – the new Ghibli Hybrid is now available in Malaysia. The spark of electrification ignites Maserati's future: with the new Ghibli Hybrid, the Trident Brand enters the world of electrification.

The new Ghibli Hybrid is one of the most ambitious projects for Maserati, it is another step forward towards the brand's new Era. With the arrival of the new Ghibli Hybrid in Malaysia, it expands the Maserati range and is now more competitive and responsive to the demands of the market.

“The choice to introduce the hybrid technology on the Ghibli sedan is not a coincidence: this model, with over 100,000 units produced globally since its launch in 2013, perfectly embodies the Modena-based manufacturer’s DNA. In fact, the real challenge that Maserati faced was to enter the world of electrification without altering the brand's core philosophy and values. The result is the creation of the best possible hybrid. What's more, Ghibli Hybrid will retain the unmistakable sound that has always distinguished every Maserati, said Dato’ Nik Hamdam, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Automotive Group, Naza Corporation Holdings.

This new Ghibli Hybrid is easily recognisable with the new design of both exterior and interior. The common denominator of the restyling, developed by the Centro Stile Maserati, is the blue colour, which is universally adopted as the symbol of clean mobility. It was chosen to identify all cars with hybrid technology and the new world they represent.

At the first glance on the exterior, the blue colour characterises the three iconic side air ducts, the brake callipers and the thunderbolt in the oval that encloses the Trident on the rear pillar. The same blue colour reappears inside the car, particularly on the embroidered seams of the seats.

The new Ghibli Hybrid also introduces new stylistic contents, make it even more elegant, starting from the new front grille, with bars redesigned to represent a tuning fork, a musical device that emits a sound of extreme purity, and which also evokes the Trident symbol itself. There are also significant changes at the rear of the car, where the light clusters have been completely restyled, with a boomerang-like profile inspired by the 3200 GT and the Alfieri concept car.

Staying true to its DNA, Maserati has chosen a hybrid solution focused primarily on improving performance, while also reducing fuel consumption and cutting emissions. The outcome achieved is almost perfect: even greater performance, with less fuel used. The hybrid technology exploits the kinetic energy of the car accumulates when in motion, recovering it and transforming it into electricity during deceleration and braking, then storing it in a battery.

The innovative powertrain has been completely restyled by Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena, to achieve greater torque. It combines an internal combustion engine (4 cylinders, turbo, displacement of 2.0 l) with a 48-volt alternator and an additional electric supercharger (e-Booster), supported by a battery. This solution is unique in its segment as it enables the turbocharger and e-booster to deliver even more power. It is the first in a new generation of powertrains, with the perfect trade-off between performance, efficiency and driving pleasure.

The battery is mounted in the rear of the car, with benefits in terms of improved weight distribution. Even with all the new electrical bits and pieces, the new Ghibli Hybrid is still weighing about 80 kg less than the V6 Diesel variant.

Lies beneath the elegant look of the car is the innovative high-tech secret – the hybrid powerplant that generates 330 hp and torque of 450 Nm delivered from just 2,250 rpm, the new Ghibli Hybrid's performance data are very impressive: top speed of 255 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

Despite of the hybrid propulsion, the new Ghibli Hybrid occupants will still revel in the unmistakable sound that characterises all Maserati models, thanks to the optimised exhaust, which includes specially designed resonators.

The new Ghibli Hybrid is also available in GranSport trim for the Malaysia market. The exterior features an updated front grille with a more aggressive and sportier Black Piano; Nerissimo package and 20” wheels.  On the interior, sculpted sport seats are upholstered with a premium full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather, like no other leather used in the automotive industry. It is processed to develop unique character throughout the years with dark blue contrast stitching and the Trident embroidered on the headrests. The dashboard’s wood trim is finished in carbon twill high-gloss, with premium Alcantara roof lining.

For those who demand the finest hi-fi equipment and a concert hall sound experience, Maserati offers for all models in Malaysia, the Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System with 15 speakers, a 1,280 W amplifier and perfectly-configured QuantumLogic™ Surround.

Although the new Ghibli Hybrid is equipped with the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to ensure a safer driving experience, Maserati remains faithful to its core philosophy as a manufacturer of race-bred grand touring cars with superior dynamics, capable of offering an unparalleled driving experience. The introduction of the Active ADAS package in the Ghibli Hybrid range makes the car even safer in a variety of traffic conditions with the driver in control at all times.

The new Maserati Ghibli Hybrid is introduced in Malaysia from RM427,800.00 and RM456,800 for the GranSport trim (before local duties and taxes), and inclusive of full specifications and options. The price includes 3 years Standard Warranty coverage with no mileage restriction plus a Free maintenance program of 3 years/60,000 km whichever comes first (Inclusive of *Maserati Premium Service Plus of 3 Years/60,000 km).
