Following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BYD Malaysia and Gentari, a clean energy solutions company wholly owned by PETRONAS at BYD’s global headquarters in Shenzhen, both parties will explore opportunities to deploy BYD Flash Charging infrastructure in Malaysia. The initiative reinforces BYD’s commitment in strengthening the country’s high-power EV charging network and supporting the Government’s efforts to expand EV charging infrastructure nationwide.
BYD Flash Charging is designed to deliver its fastest charging performance with vehicles equipped with BYD’s Second Generation Blade Battery including the recently launched DENZA Z9GT, one of the first models in Malaysia to support the technology. Featuring a 122.49 kWh battery and a 1,000 V high-voltage architecture, the DENZA Z9GT can charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes, bringing the EV charging experience closer to the convenience of a conventional refuelling stop. Existing BYD models are also compatible with the new charging infrastructure, although the maximum charging speed will depend on each vehicle’s charging capabilities.

This marks an important step in strengthening Malaysia’s EV charging infrastructure and making electric mobility more convenient for our customers,” said Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia.
“As EV adoption continues to grow, charging infrastructure must keep pace. Through our collaboration with local partners, we aim to make high-power charging more accessible while continuing to develop local capabilities including training and upskilling local technicians to support the growth of Malaysia’s EV ecosystem,” he added.
The initial rollout will focus on selected DENZA luxury showrooms, providing early access to BYD Flash Charging for customers with compatible vehicles. BYD Malaysia will then work with Gentari to explore suitable locations and supporting infrastructure, including PETRONAS stations and key intercity corridors connecting major population centres. As the network develops, both parties will also explore opportunities to introduce BYD Flash Charging at selected highway rest and service areas, giving EV owners greater flexibility when planning longer journeys.
New Colour Option for the DENZA Z9GT: Fjord Green
DENZA Malaysia today introduced a new exterior colour Fjord Green for the DENZA Z9GT, its Most Advanced Luxury Grand Tourer, joining the existing Rime Gold and Obsidian Black. The new colour is now available to view at all DENZA showrooms across Malaysia.
Since its launch, more than 100 units of the DENZA Z9GT have been delivered to customers in Malaysia. With new batches arriving, more customers can experience the luxury and performance of the DENZA Z9GT, now with Fjord Green joining the list of available exterior colour choices.
Priced at RM358,800, the DENZA Z9GT combines distinctive styling with advanced technology and performance. Built on the e3 Platform, the DENZA Z9GT delivers exhilarating performance with 850kW (1,156PS) output and 0-100km/h in 2.7s and features functions such as Compass Turn and Crab Walk. With the introduction of the BYD Flash Charging infrastructure to Malaysia, this additionally unlocks the Flash Charging of the car.
Interior options vary by exterior colour. Rime Gold is available with a Perg Beige interior or an all-Black interior featuring suede seats with yellow stitching. Obsidian Black can be paired with a Red Velvet interior and Perg Beige interior or the all-Black interior with suede seats and yellow stitching. Fjord Green is available with a Perg Beige interior, an all-Black interior featuring suede seats with yellow stitching, or a Red Velvet interior.
