BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD Cars in Malaysia, has received an impressive response from Malaysian consumers following the unveiling of the 2026 BYD ATTO 3, securing over 1,000 bookings within just 10 days of its launch. This milestone sees history repeat itself, mirroring the model’s debut in 2022 when the BYD ATTO 3 first entered the Malaysian market and achieved the same booking milestone within an identical timeframe. This achievement reaffirms the enduring appeal of one of the country’s most popular EV models.
The strong reception follows the model’s unveiling at Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026, marking Malaysia as the first country in the Asia Pacific to introduce the 2026 BYD ATTO 3. True to its tagline, “Faster, Further, Smarter,” the model has drawn strong interest in its enhanced performance—particularly the premium variant with Rear-Wheel Drive, 0–100 km/h in 5.5 seconds—alongside faster charging of up to 220 kW, a driving range of up to 600 km, and enhanced safety and intelligent features for everyday mobility.
The early booking momentum underscores continued interest in electric vehicles (EVs) among Malaysians and reflects the growing appeal of models that deliver practicality, innovation and value in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape. The response also builds on the strong track record of the BYD ATTO 3 in Malaysia, where it remains the nation’s all-time best-selling EV model with more than 12,000 units delivered to date, solidifying BYD’s position as the country's leading EV brand.
Marking the occasion, BYD Sime Motors celebrated the 1,000th customer at a special ceremony held at one of its Klang Valley outlets, BYD Bandar Utama yesterday. In a nod to the original milestone achieved in 2022, the moment was commemorated with a photo opportunity featuring the customer and BYD Sime Motors’ leadership team, highlighting how the BYD ATTO 3’s appeal continues to resonate with Malaysians years later.
