Bolt for Business Reveals Malaysia's Corporate Travel Patterns

The working day may begin at the office, but for many Malaysian employees, getting there is already part of the day's routine. New data from Bolt for Business reveals that 7AM is the busiest hour for corporate travel on the platform in Malaysia, followed by 5PM and 6PM, highlighting how work-related mobility is concentrated around the start and end of the working day.

The findings come just over a year after Bolt for Business launched in Malaysia in August 2025, providing companies with a centralised platform to manage employee and business travel.

The data also identifies Klang Valley as the country's leading area for Bolt for Business activity, reflecting the role of corporate mobility in one of Malaysia's major commercial centres.

For businesses, managing employee travel extends beyond arranging transport. Whether employees are travelling to the office, attending client meetings or making other work-related journeys, these trips often involve administrative processes, from approvals and expense claims to billing and reconciliation.

“Employee travel can involve a lot of small administrative steps, both for the person taking the trip and the teams managing it. What we want to do with Bolt for Business is make that process more convenient and cost-efficient,” said Afzan Lutfi, General Manager, Bolt Malaysia.

“What's interesting about the travel patterns we're seeing is how closely business mobility follows the working day. Companies need practical ways to support employees' travel while maintaining visibility over how that travel is managed, making corporate travel easier to manage.”

Bolt for Business allows organisations to manage work-related rides through a central company account, providing visibility over employee travel activity and spending.

Companies can establish travel policies, manage employee access and consolidate eligible business travel expenses, reducing the need for employees to pay upfront and submit individual reimbursement claims.

As businesses continue to look for ways to simplify their operations, employee mobility presents an opportunity to reduce administrative work while making business travel easier to manage.

“Different companies will have different mobility needs, but the common challenge is keeping employee travel easy to use without making it difficult to manage,” added Afzan.

“As we move into our second year in Malaysia, our focus is on helping more organisations simplify their corporate travel arrangements and supporting the everyday mobility needs of their teams.”

The findings provide an early snapshot of corporate travel behaviour on Bolt for Business in Malaysia, as the company continues developing its corporate mobility offering.
