Mercedes-Benz Celebrates Record March

MERCEDES-BENZ Malaysia’s mission to enhance brand experience through ‘exciting’ products, quality customer services and innovative mobility solutions seems to be paying well. Besides retaining its number one position in the premium market with 2944 cars delivered in the first quarter of 2019, it also recorded a best-ever sales volume in March with 1334 vehicles moved.

Of the types of Mercedes-Benz models sold, 1714 were limousines or sedans (down 13 per cent against Q1 2018), 695 SUVs (sport utility vehicles, which recorded a three per cent increase), 427 compact range (down 28 per cent) and 108 dream cars (up 15 per cent). The total number accounted for a 2.4 per cent market share.

The range of exciting products came courtesy of a five-model variants launch in the first quarter to capture the varied tastes and preferences of Mercedes-Benz customers. They included the E 300 Sportstyle Avantgarde, E 300 Exclusive, E 350 AMG Line, GLC 300 Coupe and GLE 450 AMG Line.

MBM President and CEO Dr Klaus Weidner said: “At MBM, we place high importance in offering the right mix of product and services to our existing and new customers. Our customer-centric approach would continue to provide our customers with the best service and best customer experience. This includes continuing to honour our brand promise through the various formulated service packages to ensure that our customers enjoy ultimate peace of mind throughout the entire ownership life cycle of their vehicles.”

He also attributed the strong first quarter sales to the direct contribution from the ‘exceptional’ financing offer and the comprehensive services package offered. The first quarter of the same financial year saw Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia (MBSM) record a financing portfolio of above RM2.7 billion with an increase of 0.3 billion in year-to-date growth. MBSM financed four of the five Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold and 50 per cent of them were insured by MBSM.

There was a success story in another area; vehicle servicing. Dr Weidner said more than 40,000 vehicles were serviced in the first quarter of 2019 – a 13-per cent increase compared to the first quarter of the previous year. This positive growth volume of vehicles serviced was attributed to the extensive network of 35 dedicated dealerships nationwide.

Naturally, he is looking forward to the rest of the year with optimism. “We would continue the momentum achieved in the first quarter of 2019 and are indeed looking to introduce more upcoming premium products.”
