NexV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. (NMSB), and Global NEV Technology Sdn. Bhd. (GNEV) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore strategic collaborations in the assembly and manufacturing of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in Malaysia.
By combining NexV’s cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities and GNEV’s expertise in import and distribution, the collaboration is geared to enhance the NEV ecosystem in Malaysia, initially focusing on Knocked Down (KD) operations, with GNEV expressing its intention to enter into a contract assembly arrangement with NexV Manufacturing.
The primary objective of this MoU is to establish a framework for collaboration between NMSB and GNEV in developing Malaysia’s green technology facility dedicated to manufacturing and assembling NEVs. Specific activities under the MoU will be detailed in a Definitive Agreement, which both parties aim to sign by mid-February 2025.
"This MoU represents a significant step forward in our mission towards developing Malaysia's green technology transition. By combining our strengths, we aim to set a new benchmark for NEV assembly and manufacturing in the region", said Lim Kwee Shyan, CEO of NexV Manufacturing.
The collaboration aims to kick off with the assembly of GNEV brand EV Van powered by LiuZhou Wuling, meeting the rising demand for commercial electric vehicles in the ASEAN region. Once a definitive agreement is signed between the two parties, the collaboration may see its first EV commercial vehicle roll out from the NexV’s production line as soon as Q1 2026.
"We are excited about the potential of this partnership, and we believe this collaboration will not only bring innovative NEV solutions to the market but also contribute to Malaysia's vision of becoming a regional hub for sustainable technology" said Andrew Thu Pong Fan, Executive Director of GNEV.
NexV Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. is a joint venture between Careplus Group Berhad and GoAuto Group Sdn. Bhd. that aims to lead Malaysia’s transition to sustainable and green automotive technology by constructing the country’s first dedicated green technology manufacturing facility.
Its NEV manufacturing plant in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan, is set to become a cornerstone of the country's transition to sustainable mobility, slated to commence operations in Q2 2025 and is expected to bring substantial economic and employment benefits to Negeri Sembilan and surrounding regions.
Global NEV Technology Sdn Bhd is the importer and distributor of New Energy Valley Group for electric commercial vehicles range of GNEV brands manufactured by LiuZhou Wuling. GNEV envisage a 15 years plan for Technology Transfer between China and Malaysia to building a truly Malaysian EV Tech Hub for the region. The GNEV roadmap brainchild shall be redefining the EV market landscape in the near future.
