PERODUA has given its hot-selling Bezza fresh pizzazz to continue its blistering pace into 2020. No, it might not have come with a complete body design overhaul; after all, it has only been around for only four young years, having made its entry in 2016.
What it did since then was to endear itself to market sentiments quickly and over that short span, some 184,000 Bezzas ‘have found Malaysian homes’, says Perodua. And to maintain this healthy momentum, the Bezza is updated aesthetically and equipment-wise to keep abreast of the automotive trend and customer feedback.
In looks, the Bezza’s trendy profile is given a sportier and bolder touch in the lower aprons front and rear. The front bumper sports more angular elements to envelope the foglamps for a more imposing impression and this treatment is echoed in the rear.
Adding to this car’s freshness are the LED (light emitting diode) headlamps that now come standard across the board. Another standard item across the range are the two-tone side skirts while the 1.3-litre models get ‘striking’ 15-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels to make a more confident statement.
All variants – there are four; two 1.0-litre and two 1.3-litre models – get power-adjustable door mirrors and reverse sensors while the top Bezza AV gets a reverse camera and its door mirrors could retract with the push of a button. The interior sees an uplifted ambience in the white-illuminated gauges and the 1.3 variants come with keyless entry and start as well as front corner sensors on the bumper.
Driving safety has now come to the fore with Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) suite of driver assistance safety systems making its debut in the Bezza range in the AV variant.
ASA 2.0 comprises Pedestrian Detection (up to 50km/h), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100km/h), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80km/h), Front Departure Alert (unintentional lane deviation) and Pedal Misoperation Control; these driver assistance systems work together to mitigate collisions.
Perodua says this makes the Bezza AV the most affordable sedan in Malaysia to come with this driver assistance system. Meanwhile, the Bezza X 1.3 now gains the Vehicle Stability Control and traction control systems that were offered on the previous AV variant.
Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad says the 2020 Bezza is the result of ‘our many engagements with customers. The improvements made are centred on the ideas of smart design, smart drive and smart safety’.
The popularity of the Bezza is firmly grounded as some 5600 of this refreshed sedan would be delivered to customers by the end of January. Given its high acceptance among Malaysian car owners, Perodua shouldn’t have a problem moving 4000 Bezzas a month, which is its average monthly target.
Customers are further wooed by new body colours, these being the Garnet Red that is exclusive to the 1.3-litre models and Granite Grey. The existing four-colour spectrum includes Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Ocean Blue and Sugar Brown.
And for the pleasure of enjoying this ‘compact, great value package that offers fuel efficiency, dependability, space, practicality, ease of driving and low ownership costs’ are the attractive prices across the range.
The prices on the road without insurance are RM34,580 for the Bezza 1.0 G MT (the only manual transmission model), RM36,580 for Bezza 1.0 G AT, RM43,980 for Bezza 1.3 X AT and RM49,980 for Bezza 1.3 AV AT.
If you want more for your new Bezza, Perodua has a wide range of GearUp accessories that include body kits and practical adds-on for the car exterior and interior. The 2020 Perodua Bezza comes with a five-year or 150,000km warranty.
