Porsche Malaysia brings heritage, innovation and motorsport together at Luftwasser 2026

Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance (Auto Performance), joined owners and enthusiasts at Luftwasser 2026: Icona Heritage for a day of heritage, passion and innovation. Held at LYL International Karting Circuit, the independently organised event also brought together hundreds of Porsche sports cars from different eras, alongside a programme centred on community, motorsport and the continuing development of the brand.

The gathering featured air-cooled and water-cooled classics, GT and special-edition models, racing cars and current Porsche models. Together, they presented the breadth of the Porsche community and the shared enthusiasm for sports cars that connects its members.

“Every Porsche has an engine, but it is the community that gives the brand its heartbeat. Luftwasser brings together owners and enthusiasts across different generations, each with their own cars, stories and experiences. What connects them is a shared fascination for Porsche, from long-standing owners and motorsport enthusiasts to those discovering the brand for the first time – and we are proud to be standing next to them at community gatherings like this,” said Christopher Hunter, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.

Porsche sports cars and motorsport take centre stage at Luftwasser 2026
Porsche Malaysia introduced a dedicated hospitality paddock at Luftwasser 2026, offering guests views across the vehicle display and karting circuit. The programme included test drives of the current Porsche model range, racing simulators, a Porsche Lifestyle boutique, as well as the Cayenne Electric and the public preview of the new Porsche 911 Challenge.

Marking 75 years of Porsche Motorsport, the event also celebrated a racing heritage that began with the Porsche 356 SL's class victory at Le Mans in 1951. Since then, motorsport has remained an integral part of Porsche, shaping both the brand's sporting identity and the development of its sports cars.

This story was reflected in the display itself. Race cars from different eras were presented alongside current road-going Porsche models, creating a journey through the marque's evolution in motorsport while highlighting how lessons learned in competition continue to shape the development of Porsche sports cars.

The race cars also reflected Porsche Malaysia's own involvement in customer motorsport over more than a decade. A curated display of 911 GT3 Cup cars showcased successive generations of racing machinery that have competed under Porsche Malaysia's banner, from the 997-generation 911 GT3 Cup that raced in the 2012 season, through its 991-generation successor, to the current 992.2-generation Porsche 911 Cup campaigned by Naquib Azlan and Team Porsche Malaysia in the 2026 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season.

Presented in their original racing liveries, the cars illustrated the evolution of Porsche Malaysia's customer motorsport programme and its ongoing commitment to young driver talent development and racing in the region.

The Porsche among SUVs: Cayenne Electric leads a new era
Following its national debut at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, Porsche Malaysia presented the new Cayenne Electric at Luftwasser alongside its predecessors, offering visitors a unique perspective on the evolution of the Cayenne over more than two decades.

Together, the display demonstrated how Porsche has continuously developed the Cayenne while remaining true to the qualities that have defined it from the beginning: everyday usability, long-distance comfort and unmistakable sports car performance.

The Cayenne Electric extends this concept into electromobility, while drawing on expertise gained through Porsche's involvement in Formula E. Porsche underlined the competitiveness of its electric powertrain technology in 2026 by securing the FIA Formula E Manufacturers' World Championship, while Pascal Wehrlein claimed the Drivers' World Championship. The knowledge gained through this development and competition programme has contributed to areas such as energy recuperation, thermal management and charging performance.

The result is a family-oriented SUV that combines extraordinary performance with long-distance usability. With up to 1,156 PS, a WLTP range of up to 669 kilometres and DC charging at up to 400 kW, the Cayenne Electric carries the title of the most powerful production Porsche ever built. Under optimal conditions, the high-voltage battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 16 minutes. Its 800-volt architecture and recuperation capacity of up to 600 kW further support both performance and everyday usability.

The Cayenne Electric complements the existing combustion-engined and plug-in hybrid Cayenne models, giving customers in Malaysia a choice across three powertrain types.

The Cayenne Electric is available to order in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM 699,000. For further information, customers may contact their nearest Porsche Centre.

Easy to drive, challenging to master: the public preview of the new 911 Challenge
Also featured at Luftwasser 2026 was the new Porsche 911 Challenge, giving visitors an early look at Porsche's latest customer motorsport model ahead of its official launch.

Designed as an accessible entry point into Porsche customer racing, the 911 Challenge combines key elements of the current road-going 911 GT3 with purpose-developed motorsport components. At its heart is a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine producing 379 kW (515 PS), paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission derived from the production 911 GT3.

A community that keeps the story moving
Luftwasser 2026 brought together different generations of Porsche owners and enthusiasts, creating opportunities to share experiences, discover new models and celebrate a common appreciation for the sports car.

From long-standing owners to those encountering the brand for the first time, visitors experienced Porsche through the cars, stories and people that form its community.

For Porsche Malaysia, events such as Luftwasser are also an opportunity to engage directly with the community that supports the marque. Beyond showcasing new products and motorsport activities, they provide a platform to strengthen relationships with owners and enthusiasts, exchange perspectives and remain connected to the people who continue to shape Porsche culture in the country and beyond.

As the displays throughout the event demonstrated, Porsche continues to evolve. What remains constant is the enthusiasm of the community that surrounds it, and the shared passion that continues to bring people together around the sports car.
