Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) announced a meaningful partnership with PKT Logistics (M) Sdn. Bhd. (PKT), in an effort to further enhance logistics efficiency for the Group in the country. The Signing Ceremony of Framework Agreement for Transportation and Logistics Services was held on 5th August, 2025 at PKT’s The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan, Penang.
“The signing ceremony is more than just the formalization of a contract. It marks a strategic milestone in our journey at Volkswagen Group Malaysia,” as announced by Dr. Susanne Lehmann, the Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia during her speech.
“Our priority is to ensure seamless, efficient, and reliable logistics operations that support Volkswagen’s regional supply chain. With decades of expertise in the automotive logistics sector and partnerships with several global brands, PKT remains steadfast in our commitment to sustainability and ESG-driven practices,” added Dato’ Seri (Dr.) Michael Tio, PKT’s Group Chief Executive and Managing Director.
The decision to bring PKT on board as the key enabler into VGM’s growth strategy marks a significant step forward. This partnership is aligned with the ongoing transformation in the logistics industry which focuses on efficiency, transparency, proactivity, and customer experience. This partnership will not only enhance VGM’s inbound and outbound logistics efficiency but also contribute to Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional logistics hub. With PKT’s proven capabilities, VGM is confident in strengthening its supply chain agility and resilience, which are critical to supporting the Group’s growth in the years ahead.
PKT is a pioneer in green logistics, having developed Malaysia’s first Green Building Index (GBI) Gold-certified warehouse, and continues to champion eco-conscious operations, including sustainable CSR initiatives and energy-efficient infrastructure.
Tio emphasized PKT’s deep commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, highlighting its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. Through its education arm, Peninsula College at The Ship Campus in Batu Kawan, Penang, PKT integrates education with industry by offering logistics and maritime-focused programs that allow students to gain real-world experience via the Jom! Bekerja Sambil Belajar (JBSB) initiative. Further reinforcing the “Social” pillar of ESG, Yayasan PKT provides scholarships and bursaries to deserving students, promoting inclusive access to education and empowering the next generation of talent.
“We believe that nurturing human capital and building sustainable ecosystems are essential drivers of long-term value—for both our business and the wider community,” Tio said.
