Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) unveiled the new Golf R-Line at the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2018, completing the new Golf family line-up in Malaysia. The event also marks the Golf R-Line’s first public appearance in the country.
Perfect for the urban warrior, the Golf R-Line is priced at RM166,990. Unmistakable in looks, the car is decked in the ‘R-Line’ styling package which includes the ‘R-Line’ front and rear bumper, rear spoiler, ‘R-Line’ badges on radiator grille and side panels, and 17” Singapore alloy wheels.
Mr Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM said that the R-Line’s arrival completes the Golf family line-up. “Since the launch of the Golf family, we have received very positive response towards the variants – and now with today’s unveiling, the family is complete. The Golf is such an iconic model for Volkswagen, and has a strong following here and around the world, so it is no surprise that more than 34 million units have been sold worldwide since it its market introduction in 1974. To date, demand for the Golf remains an all-time high for us.”
Under the hood, the Golf R-Line’s 1.4TSI turbocharged engine is mated with a 7-speed dry clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG), to give an impressive output of 150PS and a torque of 250Nm between 1,500 to 3,500rpm.
Equipped with 7 airbags, the Golf R-Line comes with an array of advanced safety features such as Maneuver Braking which automatically brakes the car when it senses objects up 10km/h during parking. Also available is Automatic Post Collision Brake System where the brakes are automatically applied to prevent subsequent impact when the vehicle is involved in a collision. The Golf R-Line also comes with Rest Assist and Proactive
Occupant Protection System, which looks out for the driver and occupants in the vehicle while the Advanced Electronic Differential Lock (XDS) provides added grip during fast cornering.
The Golf R-Line offers the best of both worlds when it comes to connectivity and convenience, thanks to its 12.3” Active Info Display and 8” screen Composition Media with App-Connect (which runs systems such as MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple Carplay). Other convenient key features
include LED headlights (with Dynamic Cornering Lights), 2-Zone Climatronic air conditioning system, rear-view camera, ‘KESSY’, electronic parking brake and Driving Mode Selections with four different modes such as Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual.
The Golf R-Line is available in Tumeric Yellow, Atlantic Blue, Pure White, Deep Black, White Silver and Indium Grey.
